Projects and Decommissioning Manager APAC
What does your role cover?
Leadership and delivery of integrated project activities in the APAC (Asia Pacific Australia China) region. The scope of these activities varies from smaller developments in established areas and new developments in emerging countries to decommissioning planning activities for late life assets - and everything in between.
I have over 30 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, initially working for a major operator focused on project delivery and development, then working with smaller independent operators, and now consultancy with Xodus. I have been very fortunate that my career has enabled me to live and work all over the world, along the way enjoy experiences such as 3 weeks on a floating barge in the mangrove swamps of Eastern Venezuela and ice-road trucking - before it was famous - on the Alaskan North Slope.
What has been your greatest challenge?
My greatest challenge is persuading clients to think about the early stages of project planning and definition. It is well proven that the quote by Benjamin Franklin is still true today ‘by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail’, the capability and experience we can bring to bear within Xodus in helping our clients can help avoid this happening.
I had worked with Xodus numerous times during my career and I like very much their spin and enthusiasm with which they worked so was delighted to get a call from Steve Swindell back in 2017 to join them on a Black Sea gas project. Despite having a significant number of years of experience there is always so much to learn and contribution to make and Xodus provides me the opportunity to continue doing that. The sunshine in Perth is a help!
