Feedback
from BP for the EIA undertaken for the
UK, Atlantic Margin, Clair oil development:
“"It is a major achievement to have produced an Environmental Statement
which received nothing but compliments from the DTI and its statutory consultees.
Xodus AURORA’s skills in communication, project management, team working,
delivery to tight timescales and pleasant disposition set it apart from its competitors". |

Environmental Impact Assessment
The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and consultation process are important management tools ensuring that potential environmental hazards and effects arising from proposed projects are evaluated and that appropriate control measures are implemented. EIAs generally follow a standard methodology:
› Screening to determine whether an EIA is required
› Scoping to determine the issues/information that should be covered in the EIA
› Data gathering and the assessing of impacts, both positive and negative
› Developing appropriate mitigation measures
› Documenting and presenting findings
› Follow up monitoring actions.
By integrating stakeholder involvement we can ensure
that projects not only comply with the legal requirements
of statutory authorities, but also obtain the support
of non-statutory communities thus avoiding project
delays. We develop good working relationships with
government
departments, their statutory consultees and a wide
range of non-statutory consultees.
Xodus AURORA has extensive experience of undertaking all aspects of the EIA process and is recognised as a provider of high quality, robust assessments to support planning permission applications (onshore) and environmental consents applications (offshore). The cornerstone to this success is ensuring EIA is an integral process to project design and operation, and that client project teams are fully integrated in environmental issues identification (ENVID) and the EIA process.
Xodus AURORA works closely with the engineers in our
sister Divisions which allows us to provide a fully
co-ordinated approach to EIA from project conceptual
design through construction to project implementation
and decommissioning. We apply a variety of state of
the art assessment tools, including Geographical Information
Systems (GIS), chemical risk assessment tools and emissions
modelling (e.g. atmospheric emissions and effluent
discharges).
