Description

Cairn Oil & Gas of Vedanta Limited (formerly Cairn India Limited) has aggressive exploration plans to establish hydrocarbon resource and subsequently carry out exploitation activities from the RJ-ON-90/1 block in Rajasthan, India, in a fast track timeline. Cairn, India’s largest private upstream oil and gas company, had partnered with Xodus Group in London for carrying out subsurface consultancy studies for Rajasthan exploration.

To achieve this, Cairn was looking to partner with oil and gas service companies for desktop-studies for maturing shallow oil leads/concepts to prospective resources and finally to drill-ready prospects. During the five months project tenure, Xodus was responsible for building a Prospective Resource portfolio of ~500 mmboe, which included the validation and establishment of the portfolio and subsequently prepare and recommend exploration plans.

Xodus carried out independent, integrated subsurface analyses and delivered a new inventory of multiple leads and prospects. Prospective resource volumes and chances of success were then calculated for these. The team also carried out a re-evaluation of the already ‘matured’ prospects to judge if they should be included in the portfolio.
