Increasing production capacity.
Xodus Group’s experienced flow assurance and process team provide an extensive debottlenecking analysis of the existing Dunga processing facility onshore Kazakhstan.
The Dunga field is an onshore development located 50 km north east of the town of Aktau on the east coast of the Caspian Sea. Operator Maersk Oil Kazakhstan planned to expand the central processing gathering facility’s production capacity.
Xodus Group was tasked with investigating the hydraulics of the new oil gathering system to ensure appropriate line sizes were selected for the local environmental conditions and the high wax content of the oil.
- Fluid characterisation
- Flow assurance
- Corrosion monitoring and control
- Process system design
- Solids handling facilities design.
As part of the flow assurance analysis, a solids management study was performed on historic data provided by Maersk Oil Kazakhstan. Wax deposition modelling was successfully completed and benchmarked against historic data for the existing trunklines and then applied to models of the new production network. The study defined a basis for expected solids production rates and developed a solids management strategy to be carried forward through the field development.
- Solids management and handling was a significant challenge of the project, requiring integrated solutions from our multidisciplinary teams
- Our de-sludging and de-sanding analysis identified and evaluated potentially suitable technologies for the separation and cleanup of solids, and developed process flow schemes for the solids handling facilities.
