The IChemE Aberdeen Members Group annual dinner is the highlight of the social calendar for the local members.
It is a great opportunity to network, catch-up with old friends and hear from the IChemE Head Office about pertinent subjects to the members such as the soon to be implemented reforms to the governance structure and processes.
A very special and important part of the evening is the Awards Ceremony. There are three categories, The Chairman’s Award, Best Technical Presentation and Young Chemical Engineer of the Year. Xodus Group were delighted to have nominations across all three categories. Caroline Laurenson was nominated in the Chairman’s Award category for both the work she does as Secretary for the local Aberdeen group, but also for her work running STEM workshops, careers fair and talks. Ed Spence and Dan Paterson, who work in the Xodus London office, were nominated for their excellent presentation to the local Aberdeen members at the 2017 Annual Technical Seminar on the role of an advisor in Mergers & Acquisitions. Rebecca Allan’s nomination in the Young Engineer category was in recognition of her dedication to the Xodus Decommissioning Team and her support to grow this part of the business.
All nominees demonstrated a real passion for what they do and clearly demonstrated their commitment to the profession and above and beyond support to those around them, and Caroline Laurenson was honoured to receive the Chairman’s Award as a thank you for all her hardwork over 2017.
This year’s event was well attended with over 170 guests, who were entertained with a topical Heads and Tails game and an excellent key note speech by Colette Cohen of The Oil and Gas Technology Centre. The night ended with the draw for the raffle, with all proceeds going to CLAN.
