Name: Susi Olsen Wiseman
Age: 29
Job title: Senior Process Engineer
Wanted to be? Originally a nun... surprisingly! Then after watching Indiana Jones, an archaeologist. That soon changed when I went to university and decided my career ambition was to be a professional surfer or a windsurfer – that’s what happens when you go to university on an island in southern Brazil!
What does your job involve? Where to start! Everyday, my job ranges from working on environmental based projects such as the carbon capture and storage project that Xodus has been involved in, to topside designs and optimisation. My role involves a lot of calculation but thankfully our integrated approach to business means I am often working with different teams within the company so the interaction keeps me sane!
Which exciting Xodus projects are you currently working on? I am currently working on a major BP development, while doing some environmental and process related work for Total. When I can, I try to get involved with business development and really enjoyed working as a guest editor for the third issue of XTRA. Personally, any project that involves working closely with different teams, vendors and clients gives me great satisfaction.
Job highlights? The nights out...! But, if I am being serious, projects that are challenging are a major highlight. The carbon capture and storage project that I worked on comes to mind as it required different calculations to those I tend to do on a daily basis.
Worst bits? The days where my job involves sitting at my desk from 8.30am to 6pm doing nothing but calculations really kills me!
Hobbies and interests? I love adrenaline sports – wind surfing, mountain biking, touch rugby, snowboarding and wake boarding to name but a few. However, now that I am a mother to be, the amount I can do is limited! Saying that though, I was actually pregnant when I did my last bungee jump and ice climb – I just didn’t know it (poor baby). |
