XPLORE – Who Benefits?
Asset Manager
XPLORE’s customisable web interface allows asset managers to quickly determine the current performance of any asset by providing clear, accessible visualisation of unit or equipment performance and applying user-definable trend analysis. The system employs a traffic-light system that allows at-a-glance evaluation of each asset. By examining plant KPIs and longer-term production trends, the asset manager is able to engage his team and ensure that downward trends are corrected before significant downtime is incurred.
Engineer
XPLORE is configured to give engineers easy access to the details lurking behind any performance or integrity upset. The system provides tools that enable specialist users to investigate various options for alleviating a problem and then reconfigure the process logic to ensure the issue is never repeated.
XPLORE provides an additional layer of 24-hour engineering support by generating an operating guide based on logic functions and built-in analysis of events and alarms. Over time the system captures the collected experience of the operations support team, building a comprehensive knowledge base that serves as a best-practice operations guide.
Operator
XPLORE gives operators speedy access to the engineering knowledge built over time into the logic of the system. This provides the right information at the right moment, so your operators can take preventive action to minimise disruptions and downtime.
XPLORE is a system enhancement that gives operators immediate access to engineering information, avoiding the need for close onshore support. XPLORE enables operators to assess the potential causes of a problem fast and efficiently even when no physical data is available, by providing additional information based on inferred or “soft-sensed” variables that provide a fuller picture of plant performance, allowing more informed decision-making.
IT Professional
XPLORE provides a 4-layer enterprise-grade solution for process monitoring and optimisation projects. XPLORE expands the capabilities and user-friendliness of existing historian systems by using OPC communications technology to integrate calculations and simulations. The role-based visualisation is based on standard Windows authentication technologies and access can be controlled easily using standard Windows security techniques.
The XPLORE software is managed almost entirely on the server. The only client requirement is a standard installation of Microsoft Internet Explorer (6.0 or above): no need for any browser plug-ins. This also provides tighter security, as all data is stored and backed up on the server alone. This server-side management means that software upgrades are instantly available to users, because only the server needs to be upgraded. XPLORE uses standard Microsoft components, widely accepted within the industry, and because it is accessed through a true “thin client” web interface, reduces IT administration costs across the organisation.
