Marine

Inexhaustible and clean, wave and tidal generated energy will play an increasingly important role in meeting government targets for energy from renewables. For instance the EU Renewable Energy Directive, signed in March 2007, sets out a target of 20% of all energy coming from renewables by 2020. Although the marine renewables sector is presently dominated by technologies that have yet to reach full commercial viability, it has the potential to make an important contribution to meeting such targets.

Realising this potential requires the support of a company like Xodus with a proven record in development planning and expertise in the challenging offshore environment. Our project portfolio covers over 30 offshore renewable energy projects since 1993, working with developers and government bodies. From our offices in Orkney – one of four Xodus offices in the UK – we work closely with developers coming to EMEC, the European Marine Energy Centre. At the forefront of the development of marine renewables, this world-leading facility aims to help the evolution of marine energy devices from the prototype stage to the commercial market place. Xodus is working with a number of developers using the site to test their technologies as well as the utility and development companies looking towards commercial scale projects.

Our environmental, technical risk and engineering services combined with years of experience in the oil and gas sector means that our people are capable of meeting the most acute needs in the rapidly evolving marine renewables sector. Our team is truly multi-disciplinary and the integration of our skills and services is what sets Xodus apart.
