Advanced Analysis
Successful installation and operation of subsea assets depends on the integrity of the individual components involved. Advanced analysis including sophisticated Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) or Fitness For Service (FFS) are employed to analyse the integrity of those components in the presence of flaws. The analyses become more complex when combined with loading beyond yield (plastic deformation) during installation, and exposure to hostile conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, or sour service during operations. Combined with the material selection process during conceptual engineering, ECA and FFS assessments provide essential information for operators and pipelay contractors.

The Subsea Division at Xodus Group has the necessary skills and experience in these areas where significant value can be added throughout the entire project lifecycle:

Concept/study phase: advanced analysis/integrity assessment (ECA and FFS) expertise as part of the material selection process including development of flaw acceptance curves of welds.

Operations: assessment of the significance of flaws detected during the routine inspections and from any change in condition.

Retirement and beyond: assessment of the remaining life and whether the component can be utilised beyond its design life (life extension assessment) or should be replaced.
