Rigid Pipeline Systems
One of the Xodus Subsea Division’s key strengths is its knowledge of rigid subsea pipeline systems. Whether our clients are developing a major transmission system or an infield flowline system, in shallow or deepwater, Xodus Subsea has leading edge skills from developing the concept through to developing ‘Approved for Construction’ documentation. Subsea rigid pipeline experience in the Group covers the engineering and installation of:
› Large diameter transmission pipelines
› Infield flowline systems
› Deepwater pipelines and tie-ins
› Pipe-in-pipe and insulated systems
› Riser systems
› High temperature and high pressure pipeline systems
› Landfalls and shore crossings.
Working closely at an early stage of the project with our colleagues from the Xodus flow assurance team, we rapidly optimise a pipeline system in terms of size, pressure and temperature rating. In turn this allows the pipeline mechanical design to progress early in the design, but with a seamless interface with the flow assurance activities.
In large diameter pipeline systems, issues such as the need for compression, the effect of pressure rating on wall thickness, installation feasibility and others with a major cost impact can be addressed quickly and with a high level of accuracy because the pipeline and flow assurance engineers are working closely together. Such efficiency is further supported by the Group’s materials and corrosion group which works closely with the subsea and flow assurance engineers.
Across the Xodus Group offices, the subsea teams can provide world-class technical skills in the following key areas:
› Code-based wall thickness selection (DNV, API, PD8010, AS2885, etc.)
› Pipeline stability and span assessment
› Lateral and upheaval buckling
› Riser design
› Finite element analysis
› Installation engineering
› Development of construction documentation.
