XPLORE
System Modules
Overview
XPLORE offers four systems modules; allocation module, optimisation module,
virtual metering module, emissions monitoring module. System modules bring
together the XPLORE framework and a number of calculation modules to provide
a higher level of monitoring than can be achieved through unit calculation
modules on their own. For example, allocation systems may require the XPLORE
framework to access, filter and reconcile field metering data and may then
require the addition of a system model to provide real-time online shrinkage
factors. The XPLORE allocation system combines this into a single system
and presents the data to the user via the web-based interface.
XPLORE
Allocation System Module
The allocation system module utilises
all of the aspects of XPLORE to provide a state of
the art, accurate and easily configurable allocation
system. XPLORE is designed to connect to any modern
control system or data historian thereby reading production
data such as flowrates, pressures, temperatures is
a standard feature. This data can be filtered and more
importantly reconciled to provide improved accuracy
in the flow measurement. Shrinkage factors or custom
calculations can be included as configuration data,
again a standard feature of XPLORE, providing an entire
allocation system.
For more complex systems, the Xodus Simulation Manager
(XSM) functionality can be utilised. The XSM allows
any simulation package to be connected to XPLORE providing
more advanced information that can be used as part
of the allocation system. For example a steady state
Hysys® model can be used to provide real time shrinkage
factors. The XSM can connect seamlessly to Hysys® (both
steady state and dynamic) therefore providing an entire
allocation system within a single system.
XPLORE
Optimisation System Module
The optimisation module utilises the
functionality of the XPLORE system and the XSM. To
provide accurate, robust, real time optimisation relies
on two main factors being achieved; accurate real-time
data and robust modeling techniques. The data filtering,
reconciliation and calculation modules can be combined
to ensure that the measured data from the field is
reconciled to provide accurate data. Xodus Technology
are at the forefront of simulation, both steady state
and dynamic. We understand the key parameters involved
in developing a robust model that can be reliably operated
in a remote location. Combining XPLORE’s data
reconciliation and Xodus Technology’s modelling
techniques allow us to a state of the art optimisation
system module.
XPLORE
Virtual Metering System Module
The virtual metering system module
uses similar technology to both the optimisation and
the allocation modules. XPLORE is used to obtain real
time operational data and XPLORE calculation modules
are used to reconcile this data. Virtual metering is
achieved by using calculation modules or simulation
technology to predict flows, pressures, temperatures
and compositions in areas of the process that have
no or little instrumentation.
Virtual metering offers the following benefits:
› Optimisation
of instrumentation design. XPLORE can be used as
the virtual instrument, saving on hardware, improving
integrity through reduced leak paths and saving on
maintenance.
› Improved
measurement. Reconciliation will provide a higher degree
of accuracy, for example orifice plate calculations
can be carried out using reconciled pressures, temperatures
and composition therefore improving flowrate calculations.
› Improved
diagnostics. Virtual metering will provide indication
of instruments that are accurate and instruments that
have drifted since the last calibration.
XPLORE
Emissions Monitoring System Module
Emission monitoring allows the operator
to monitor turbine performance and monitor the vent
gas composition and flowrate. The module monitors CO2,
CO, NOx, SOx, UHCs and VOC emissions and comes
complete with XPLORE visualization, a reporting tool
and a benchmarking tool. The benchmarking tool enables
the operator to enter sample data and “tune” the
calculations to match real time data thus allowing
the operator to meet IPPC regulations.
