An afternoon on the Swan River brought the Perth team together in April, giving staff from both of the offices an opportunity to meet and mingle.

With fine weather about to break, the team had an early start to the weekend, heading down to the river mid-afternoon on a Friday for an hour of catamaran sailing followed by a relaxing Aussie barbecue.

This was a great opportunity for many new staff members to get to know their colleagues outside of the office setting.

Most people ventured out on the water, masterfully sailing hired catamarans, while those who didn’t sail prepared a feast that would have pleased any hungry sailor.

Some took to the water better than others: executive director Matthew Rawlings and principal engineer Susmita Thomson provided some great entertainment when they had to be rescued after becoming stranded somewhere downstream.

Apart from getting marooned with Matthew, Susmita said a highlight of the day was the great food and she gave a special mention to the delicious dinosaur-sized steaks.

“It was great to get everyone from the different offices together. Between the sailing and all that food, I think everyone had a good time,” she said.

The river provided a relaxed setting and Xodus Group provided the team with fun activities and food, resulting in an afternoon of good times that got everyone’s weekend off to a great start.
