Scope of Service

Xodus has supported EMEC and the developers operating at EMEC sites by providing environmental and consenting expertise for the deployment of marine energy devices in Orkney. Our role included the preparation and delivery of all required consenting documentation.

Key activities

Xodus managed and coordinated the development of Section 36 consent applications and variations; designed environmental monitoring programmes; and produced a range of EIA‑related deliverables including scoping reports, appropriate assessments, and stakeholder consultation materials. Further activities included the preparation of environmental components for integrated management systems (such as legislation registers and aspect identification), development of marine awareness charts, creation of facility‑level oil spill contingency plans, preparation of environmental baseline descriptions, provision of device‑specific EIA guidance, and development of decommissioning programmes.

Value created

Xodus supported multiple developers during the early stages of device development, providing industry‑leading advice that enabled them to progress and refine their technologies.
