What is your role at Xodus?
My background is as a Developments Engineer, and I now lead hydrogen in Xodus. To do this I lean on my oil and gas experience, working with operators through the earliest stages of projects, where the biggest value is created or lost. My focus is on helping teams turn uncertainty into clear, investable development decisions by integrating technical, commercial and delivery considerations.
How does this role support the development of the industry?
The North Sea is a mature basin, which means developments are rarely straightforward. My role supports the industry by helping operators make better development decisions earlier, particularly around infrastructure re‑use, phasing, and risk. Getting this right improves capital discipline, reduces wasted effort downstream, and helps viable projects progress in a very constrained investment environment.
What re the biggest risks that North Sea Operators are facing right now?
Challenges around the EPL and licensing are much talked about. A knock-on risk that is growing with each passing month is that developments are increasingly constrained by ageing infrastructure and availability of installation vessels. As new developments are delayed there is less choice and more constraint.
What is the one piece of advice you would give North Sea Operators looking at a Development?
Identify where the value in a new development is. Understand how much value is within the project itself and how much value is being brought to associated infrastructure. Make sure the development phase is framed appropriately and focused on delivering that value.
